Even as Jesus reveals His glory in the transfiguration, He has a mission to accomplish. He will not stay on the mountain, as Peter wishes. The Father says of Him, “This is My Son, My Chosen One. Listen to Him!” So our Lord descends into the slog and grind down below, of the cross, to do the most glorious work of saving sinners like us.
