The Pharisee, the Tax Collector, and the Grace of God
We look down on the Pharisee for his pride and judgmental attitude, only to realize that we’ve been exactly like him. How do we respond? With heads hanging low and a simple prayer, “God, be merciful to me, a sinner,” and so find ourselves in the tax collector’s shoes. And God indeed has mercy, mercy that comes by grace for Christ’s sake.
