Temptations to sin and causes of offense are inevitable in our world. Therefore, forgiveness toward others is necessary. Knowing this, we pray with the disciples: “Increase our faith.” But Jesus teaches that it’s not the size of faith that matters. It’s the object of faith. Jesus can do great things with a small faith—even bring forgiveness through us to others! Forgiving others earns no merit; it’s simply our duty, for the righteous live by faith in Jesus.
