Jacob refuses to let go until he receives from God a blessing, the undeserved gift of a new name and new identity. So, too, God would have us cling to Him in faith, even when it seems that He’s attacking us. Even if we, like Jacob, leave limping, it simply serves to remind us that we depend on Him.
