A Thing to Be Grasped
St Paul says of Jesus that, though He was God, “He did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped.” He did not, but others did: Satan, Adam and Eve, you and me. We grasp for equality with God, and deserve death for it. Jesus humbled Himself, even to the point of death on a cross, to grasp us with His forgiveness, life, and salvation.
