“Render to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s and to God the things that are Gods.” Having spoken these words, Jesus does exactly that. He renders to Caesar the honor, respect, and obedience due him, and renders to God His very life, by which we are redeemed and made a people belonging to God forever.
