Love your enemies, and pray for those who persecute you? Impossible! But Jesus did, and by the Holy Spirit He empowered St. Stephen to do the same. And you know who was right there helping stone Stephen to death? A man named Saul, whom we know as St. Paul—an enemy loved and prayed for, whom Jesus converted to the faith and then used as a missionary to the Gentiles. So, yes, be bold to love your enemies, and pray for those who persecute you . . . you never know how our Lord might answer that prayer!
