Advent cries out to us, “Be ready.” Ready for what? For our Lord to come at a day or hour we do not expect. While the world models confident carelessness about Christ’s return, our Lord readily offered Himself for us on the cross in confident hope. Now He comes to make us ready with His Holy Word and Sacraments.
