What the Lord has to say through the prophet Jeremiah can be hard to hear. His Word comes like a fire and a hammer against both the lying prophets and our own sin. Along with the fire and the hammer, however, God also provides the cross. There the fire of God’s wrath fell on our Lord Jesus and the hammer of God’s Law pinned Him to the cross. There we have the Word that truly saves.
